Bharathanatyam Master Class - Nrithya oriented KeerthanamEnded
This three-day course is designed for intermediate and advanced level Bharathanatyam dancers, and they will learn to perform a Nritya-oriented Keerthanam. (Nrithyathi - Swathi Thirunal composition in raag Shankarabharanam, Adi thalam)
Alongside the practical training, the course includes a theoretical session on the Margam (Bharatanatyam repertoire), offering insights into its structure, significance, and traditional and present-day presentation.
Designed with equal emphasis on learning and teaching, this intensive program equips dancers with the knowledge to both perform the composition on stage and teach it effectively.
Studio recorded music of good quality will be provided

About the teacher
Arun Sankar is a distinguished Bharatanatyam practitioner and former faculty member of the Kalakshetra Foundation, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Upon completing his postgraduate studies, he was appointed as the youngest faculty member in the institution's history, a distinction that reflects both his exceptional talent and deep mastery of the art form.
In recognition of his artistic excellence, he received the prestigious T. S. Parthasarathy Award from the Madras Music Academy in 2007. His accomplishments were further acknowledged through the award of the Central Government Scholarship for Dance by the Government of India. He is currently pursuing research as a scholar at Sree Shankaracharya University of Sanskrit and is also a certified instructor associated with the Art of Living International Centre, Bengaluru.
Arun Sankar has served as Assistant Professor of Bharatanatyam at Alliance University and REVA University. He is also a member of the Board of Studies (BOS) in the Department of Performing Arts at Jain University, Bengaluru.
Arun has represented India under the auspices of the Sangeet Natak Akademi in festivals and productions across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Mauritius, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and Azerbaijan between 2014 and 2026. His participation in the SAARC Festival in Shimla, along with Central Government-sponsored performances in Chandigarh, Udaipur, Shimla, and Agartala, further reflects his national and international recognition.
As a choreographer and performer, Arun has presented his works at several prestigious festivals and venues, including the Chilanka Festival (Ministry of Culture, Government of Kerala), Sadhana Festival (Chennai), Dakshina Dance Festival (Washington, D.C.), Purush Festival (Chennai), Bangkok International Dance and Music Festival, and the Spirit of Youth Series hosted by the Madras Music Academy. His solo performance at the Bharata Kalakshetra Koothambalam remains a significant milestone in his artistic journey.
Internationally, he has been featured at the Kalanidhi Spring Dance Festival in Canada, Light Night in the United Kingdom, the Krishnanjali Festival in Chennai, and the Docklands Festival in the United Kingdom. A notable highlight of his career was his performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in November 2013 as part of an official programme organized by the Indian Consulate.
With a career dedicated to performance, scholarship, choreography, and education, Arun Sankar continues to contribute meaningfully to the evolution and dissemination of Bharatanatyam, inspiring students and audiences through artistic excellence, academic inquiry, and cultural leadership.
